Are you looking for relief from
uncontrolled anger
anxiety
depression
irritability
loneliness or social isolation
boredom
relationship conflict
lack of fulfillment in either your personal or work circumstances
unexplained and persistent physical symptoms
low energy or lack of enthusiasm for previously enjoyable activities
feeling overwhelmed
feeling stuck or immobilized
feeling numb or "shut down" ?
As a therapist, I have been treating these symptoms for over 24 years. At the same time, I have been actively involved in research designed to clarify the important ingredients required for mastery of developmental milestones in infancy through young adulthood as well as in the healthy development of marital and parent/child relationships. Through the combination of these experiences, I have learned what brings out the best in individuals and in relationships as well as what is likely to undermine the pursuit of goals, whether they are short or long term. Through my "developmental lense" I will guide the development of your mastery over whatever obstacles you are experiencing, whether they are internal (i.e., emotional, psychological), external (i.e., work or academic related) or a combination of the two (i.e., relationship based). Through my work I have also come to appreciate the central role of self understanding in navigating the process of mastery efficiently. Thus, I also attend to the resolution of distortions in self understanding that are interfering with the process of mastery. In resolving self distortions, individuals are better equipped to achieve greater clarity in short and long term goals, experience greater self-confidence to pursue their goals, resolve obstacles, and face disappointments without getting stuck.
Whether you are a member of a military family, a parent, single, married, gay or straight, old or young, the perspective I bring to my clinical work will deepen your self understanding and strengthen your skills to create the life you want.
